Overview

This course explains how staff and managers of businesses in the hospitality sector can upsell and cross-sell effectively to improve service skills and boost profits. Whether your establishment is a bar, restaurant, hotel, or other service industry, we can provide you with a solid grounding to give you the confidence to maximise your service.


Candidates will undertake an online multiple-choice assessment and will receive a certificate if successful (any certificates from an official awarding body are sent to you via email).

Course Syllabus

  • Course Introduction

    This introductory unit gives a complete overview of the course.


  • Introduction to Service and Selling

    To kick off this course, we introduce the concepts of service and selling, which will underpin what follows in the rest of the course.


  • Management Strategies and the Theories of Upselling

    In this section, we focus on how managers and business owners can participate in upselling. We then provide you with some upselling strategies, and some of the social and economic theories which make upselling and other service techniques so effective.


  • Working in Bars and Restaurants

    Now we will turn our attention to some vital upselling and cross-selling techniques which can be used in a bar or restaurant setting.


  • Hotels

    In the penultimate unit of this course, we explore upselling and cross-selling in a hotel environment. In addition, we look at some example scenarios to put all of the sales techniques we have learnt thus far, into context.


  • Using the Internet and Technology

    The final unit of this course examines the importance of harnessing the power of the internet and modern technology to maximise profits.
